“Always do your best”.
I would suspect most, if not all, of us have either heard or been told this in our life. I also suspect that in most of these moments, it was directed to something we were doing — some task, job or responsibility. While certainly reasonable in that environment, I would like to suggest another, equally important environment of its application. The realm of how we interact with others.
Do we often think about “giving our best” to others in our relationship with them? Do I give my best intention, my best words, my best listening, my best empathy, and so on. Do we give it much thought?
Today, I want to encourage you to make it a priority. Ask yourself what is your best when you interact with others? What does that look like? And then, in the words of Nike…”Just do It”. It will affect you in ways you may not anticipate, but it will most certainly be a positive gift for those around you.
You have a “best” in you and it is meant in all areas of life. That includes our daily connections with others.
